Thank you for using DJ Music Sync (the “App”). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use our App.
What Information We Collect
We collect minimal personal information, necessary only for the functioning of the App:
1. User Profile Information
- Display Name – Chosen by you and visible to others.
- User ID – A unique identifier we generate for your account.
2. Connection and Usage Data
- Current Activity – Whether you are acting as a DJ or listener.
- Music Playback Info – Information about what music you’re playing or syncing to.
- Friend Connections – User IDs of friends you’ve added.
- WebSocket Connection Data – Used to sync music playback across users.
3. Device and Network Information
Device model, OS version, and connection diagnostics may also be collected for troubleshooting purposes.
4. Apple Music Integration (if used)
If you log in with Apple Music, we request access to:
- Your music subscription capabilities
- Playback synchronization
- Apple Music developer token for authentication purposes
We do not access or store your Apple Music library or listening history.
How We Use Your Information
Your data is used only to power core features of the app:
- Syncing playback between DJs and listeners
- Identifying friends and displaying name
- Maintaining session persistence (e.g., remembering your DJ/listener state)
- Connecting users via invites and deep links
- Sending essential in-app messages and updates in background
We do not sell or monetize your personal data.
Sharing of Data
We only share your data in the following limited circumstances:
- With Friends – Display name and listening status is visible to friends you add.
- With Apple – For authorization and music streaming-related APIs.
- With Service Providers – Cloud hosting (e.g., Render, WebSocket servers) strictly to support the App’s functionality.
Data Storage and Retention
We store minimal user data (User ID, Display Name, Friends list) on our server. This information is retained until you delete the App or contact us to request removal.
We do not store sensitive data such as passwords or payment information.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request what personal data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Withdraw access to Apple Music at any time (via iOS settings)
